Paracord was originally used during World War II for parachute suspension lines because it is incredibly strong and durable. It is found in a vast array of colors and has become popular with crafters and survivalists.

What is Paracord? It comes from the rope family and is made of nylon kermantle core. It comes in various strengths like 550. 550 means the breaking strength of 550 pounds. Survivalists may use it for things like making a clothesline, fire, fishing line, boot laces, belts, splints and a tourniquet. The things you can make and do with paracord are innumerable.

Alabama native and author, Chad Poole introduces his newest book "Crafting with Paracord". This book features 50 creative craft projects that offers step-by-step instructions and full-color photographs with basic lessons and introduction in knot tying. You will find stylish and functional projects to make such as watchbands, key chains, bracelets, knife handle wraps, and more.

Stitched Solomon Bar  by J. D. Lenzen

#2 Solomon Bar - Stitched Solomon Bar pp. 22 - 24

Solomon Bars from Chapter 2 features seven projects. My husband, Carl used the Stitched Solomon Bar design to create this black and red key chain for me.  We look forward to creating more projects using ideas from "Crafting with Paracord" by Chad Poole.

"This book is an introduction to the uses of paracord and was written to encourage creativity," explains author Chad Poole.

"Crafting with Paracord" is an easy-to-follow guide for creating braids, weaves, wraps, knots and bars and more. If you have never crafted using rope then I highly recommend this book for beginners and novice alike. What a great gift idea! You can create projects for indoors and outdoors,  for youngsters and adults, and even accessories for your pets. It would be cool to create projects during school breaks, camping trips, field trips, club & youth group meetings and more.
