Sensible Portions - Portion Control that Makes Sense

Sensible Portions Veggie Crips

Sensible Portions
http://www.sensibleportions.com/

Several months ago while shopping at our local Sam's Club, my family and I stumbled across a yummy and healthy snack called Sensible Portions Veggie Snacks. Since my husband recently was diagnosed with diabetes, Sensible Portions has become a life saver for him. He can still eat a healthy snack and not fill empty or deprived. A serving size of the Veggie Straws is thirty-eight straws and only 130 calories. They go great with a sandwich or wrap. Try them between meals as a great pick-me-up.

You can even find more products like the Sensible Portions Potato Straws(Sweet Barbeque), Apple Straws and many more.

For more information, visit Sensible Portions at http://www.sensibleportions.com/ .

The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs!

ANIMALS WITH ATTITUDE STAR IN THIS NEW SCHOLASTIC STORYBOOK TREASURES™ DVD FEATURING JON SCIESZKA’S HILARIOUS TAKE ON EVERYONE’S FAVORITE PIG VS. WOLF TALE

THE TRUE STORY OF THE 3 LITTLE PIGS…AND MORE ANIMAL ADVENTURES

DVD SRP: $14.95

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Did the classic fable of the Three Little Pigs ever seem slightly biased to you?  All that huffing and puffing --- could one wolf really be all that unequivocally evil?  Finally, we get to hear the rest of the story, straight from the wolf’s mouth in THE TRUE STORY OF THE 3 LITTLE PIGS…AND MORE ANIMAL ADVENTURES!   As Alexander T. Wolf explains it, in Jon Scieszka and Lane Smith’s zany animated adaptation of the best-selling book, the whole Big Bad Wolf thing was just a big misunderstanding.  Get his wolfish perspective in the title tale which headlines this new SCHOLASTIC STORYBOOK TREASURES DVD featuring four other hilarious animal tales, providing more than an hour of family-friendly viewing.

The DVD includes the following stories:

·        The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs (adapted from the story by Jon Scieszka, illustrated by Lane Smith, narrated by Paul Giamatti). The classic story told from the wolf’s point-of-view! Was he really as bad as everyone thinks he was?

·        The Pig’s Wedding (adapted from the story written and illustrated by Helme Heine). All the pigs are too dirty and smelly for Porker and Curleytail’s wedding — until the hosts mix a few cans of paint with lots of imagination.

·        Wallace’s Lists (adapted from the story written by Barbara Bottner and Gerald Kruglik, illustrated by Olof Landstrom, narrated by Zach Braff). Wallace, a mouse, can do almost anything as long as he has a list. Then he meets a new neighbor and discovers a wondrous world that’s not on any of his lists!

·        Henry Builds a Cabin (adapted from the book by D.B. Johnson, narrated by James Naughton). A frugal bear named Henry sets about building a small cabin and ends up with a much bigger home than he and his friends could ever imagine!

·        This Is the House That Jack Built (adapted from the book by Simms Taback, narrated by Mandy Patinkin). It all started with the cheese that lay in the house that Jack built in this fun interpretation of an age-old classic.

BONUS FEATURES

·        Interviews with The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs author Jon Scieszka and illustrator Lane Smith.
·        Read Along captioning

My Thoughts

My children and I enjoyed watching "The True Story of The 3 Little Pigs! ... and more animal adventures" on DVD by Scholastic Storybook Treasures. Immediately my five-year-old pointed out that The True Story of The 3Little Pigs! by Jon Scieszka is not how the real story goes but she enjoyed it very much. What a wolf will do for a cup of sugar! As usual, we enjoy watching the interviews of the authors and illustrators at the end of the stories.

"The Pigs Wedding" by Helme Heine is a delightful tale about Porker and Curlytails wedding. When their friends arrive smelly and dirty she suggests they get cleaned up before the wedding begins. My youngest daughter could not wait for them to kiss.

"Wallace's Lists" by Barbara Bottner and Gerald Kruglik is about a mouse named Wallace that gets out of his comfort zone once he meets his new neighbor and soon to be best friend Albert.

"Henry Builds a Cabin" by D. B. Johnson is about a bear named Henry that goes about building a small home. His friends drop by and note that his home is too small but Henry does not see it that way.

And in conclusion, "This is the House That Jack Built" by Simms Taback is an all time favorite classic and my daughter's most favorite from all the stories on the disk.
