 My Thoughts...

My family and I have purchased wonderful books from Scholastic for over a decade. We are a homeschool family and we often bought books to use in our homeschool library. My four year old daughter now gets to read all the books that we have collected since the early 1990's. lol

We were so excited to be allowed to review these wonderful award-winning classic stories on DVD. As a family, we have all huddled together to watch them. We love it! I believe these DVD's would make a great gift for any family and for any occasion.

The winner is ... pulled your number out of a hat:

Pump Gloves

Don't Be A Ditz, Cover Your Mitts

Ever fear pumping gas because of the putrid odor it leaves on your hands? Do you worry about who's touched that handle before you did? Don't want to ruin that manicure? Well never fear, Pump Gloves are here!

pump gloves

Pump Gloves are a stylish, yet practical product made by Jean Schripper from Laguna Beach, California. The gloves are specially designed to protect women's hands from the nasty germs and smelly gas odors that may come from the task of pumping gas. Soft and comfortable, the gloves come in sizes of small, medium, and large. Each pair is priced at $14.95 and come in three colors, black, white and pink. You can choose from a pair of plain black gloves, white polka-dot black gloves or white polka-dot pink gloves, all of these come with a cute pink bow. When you order your Pump Gloves, they will be sent to you in a chic rectangle box, which is great for presentation and gifting. Also in the package, you will receive a sheer vinyl pouch to store your gloves in. This pouch fits neatly and nicely in your car. The gloves and pouch are machine washable, so no worries there.

Have problems keeping up with your gloves? Well, Pump Gloves has added the nice touch of Velcro to keep the two gloves stuck together at all times. This, ladies, is very helpful, indeed.

Pump Gloves has been featured on the Today Show with Kathie Lee and various other magazines. It's great to know that with every purchase of Pump Gloves, 5% of the profits will be donated to the Princeton Environmental Institute at Princeton University...With all this said and done, all I have left to add is "Don't be a ditz, cover your mitts!"

A special thanks to Pump Gloves & ChicExecs.com for providing this opportunity to share their wonderful products with our readers. I did receive a sample pair of Pump Gloves. Thank you.

Nothing Says It Like Pearls!

Pearl Distributors is a family run business that was established in 2004. They are based in Santa Monica, California, which is where their vault is and the pearls ship from there around the country and internationally.  They also have offices in Canada and England. They sell necklaces, bracelets, earrings and pendants.

Akoya Stud Earrings

I was born in the month of June and I am a pearl admirer. I was so excited when approached by Pearl Distributors to review their products.  I received the beautiful Akoya AAA Quality earrings to review. (Photo) Now, I need to purchase the 18-inch Akoya Culture Pearl Necklace to have my set complete. ($419) Won’t someone nudge my husband? Our wedding anniversary is coming up in December?

pearl distributors

Hanadama Pearls(Mikimoto)

I always seem to have an eye for the most expensive items in the shop. The Hanadama Pearls are stunning and magnificent, better known as Mikimoto from Japan. I actually own a 16-inch choker made by Mikimoto. I received it many years ago for my birthday. I never realized their actual value. Gorgeous.  I have five daughters and they have already asked which one of them will get the choker when I pass on.  I jokingly tell them, whichever one of you loves me the most.

The classy and luxurious Freshwater Orient Necklace and the Freshwater Orient stud earrings are their most popular repeat sale item.  They make excellent gifts for weddings, anniversaries, or personal.

Peach/Pink Pearls

I believe that every girl should own something in pearl.  If you’d like to add a little color to your wardrobe, I suggest choosing something from the “Pearls by Color” section at Pearl Distributors.  They have white, black, lavender, pink & peach, and multi-colored pearls.  Also, they do have a value section of pearls under $100. They have earrings in stud, dangle and clip-on.  You can purchase a pair of white cultured pearl earrings for as low as $29.99. Isn’t that great?

Why choose Pearl Distributors?

  • Quality jewelry is sold at 80% less than retail, passing the savings on to you.
  • They have 60 DAY return policy, if not satisfied 100% refund. (90 Day Credit Card)

Holiday Gift Guide: Treasury of 100 Storybook Classics

100 Storybook Classics

Treasury of 100 Storybook Classics by Scholastic
Retails: $99.95

Product Description

100 award-winning and classic children s stories are faithfully adapted and brought to life in this comprehensive 16-DVD collection. From the Maurice Sendak classic Where the Wild Things Are, to the beloved adventures of Curious George and Corduroy, parents and children alike are sure to enjoy these classic treasures, featuring celebrity narration from Sarah Jessica Parker, Meryl Streep, James Earl Jones, and many more!

Treasury of 100 Storybook Classics, just like it's name, contains 100 wonderful classics from as far back as the 1950's(or even farther since I haven't watched every single show yet, but plan to.)There are 16 DVDS containing several animated and unanimated stories, as well as additional, bonus content to boot. On the back of the DVD's are short descriptions of the stories, the name's of the authors, and even the year when they were originally released. Each DVD lasts about and hour or more.

Some storybook classics will be easily recognizable, like Where The Wild Things Are, which has been made into a movie recently and the fairy tale, Rapunzel. From stories of Curious George to the Three Billy Goat's Gruff, there is plenty to see in this set. With a Read-Along Feature, kids, from 2-9, can enjoy reading along with the stories, as the words being read are highlighted in blue. The whole set lasts for nearly a day at 19hrs, 6 minutes, plus extras. On the box at the bottom is a A to Z listing of the stories, which is helpful in knowing what the set contains without removing every single DVD just to see them. The box the DVD'S come in is just as sweet and colorful, I like the thin cases the discs come in as well; they are very space conserving.

I was amazed at the reaction from my 4 year-old sister when she watched the shows. She was completely fixated by the stories being told and sat quietly on the couch the whole time. She even did something I've never seen her do before. She started to cry when she watched Angus Lost, a story about a real life Scottish Terrier Puppy who escapes from his yard and frolics about town. Eventually the puppy gets lost and starts to miss home, this is when my sister started to shed a few tears, haha. Of course when classic fairytales are added to the mix you will get some crazy life and death situations occurring in the stories. The twist on the Billy Goat's Gruff was just shocking but hysterical for me. If you have really young children watching this I advise that some of the stories should be watched with an adult, definitely. Other than that, our whole family enjoyed this blast from the past, especially my mother who recognized a few cartoons she used to see on TV when she was a child.

The Treasury of 100 Storybook Classics will invoke nostalgia in the older generations and continue to teach and entertain the new generation of our time with its morals, wit and humor in which our elders had so appreciated....

Holiday Gift Guide: Progressive Puzzles

Progressive Puzzles from Discovery Toys
Reviewed by Danielle
Ages: 3 & up

Developing motor skills while having fun? I'm all about that for my kids! My youngest son (turning 4 this month) has developed a serious love for puzzles lately and it all started with this great set from Discovery Toys. The set consists of 9 puzzles. Three are 4 piece puzzles (with cute pictures of pets), three are 6 piece puzzles (these have zoo animals on them), and three are 9 piece puzzles (that are pictures of sea creatures)...thus the name, progressive puzzles. The pictures on the puzzles are very vibrantly colored and my son loves "making" the monkey, seahorse, etc. He gets a great sense of accomplishment when he finishes them. They come in a sturdy cardboard case with a handle, so your child can carry them around and only cost $15.00. This is definitely one of the most used "toys" by my youngest son right now and are one of the best purchases I've ever made.

Thanks to Danielle, she is our Special Guest Reviewer for the Holiday Gift Guide. Danielle is mom to three gorgeous little boys. Please take time to visit Danielle's blog and maybe wish them a Merry Christmas. :)

Recently, I created a family photo book at Inkubook. I had a great time creating pages and pages for my album and I am sure you would like to create one for yourself. Inkubook has many sizes, categories, formats and layouts to create your special book. The fun is sharing them with family and friends. Check out the new widget! I posted a preview of our album with the widget on Facebook and Blogger. What fun!

Make any book and order it now thru Tuesday, November 3, 2009 and get a second copy of the same book for half price. Just enter code INKUTREAT09 during checkout. (Code may be used once per customer. Not valid with any other offer or promotion).

Please read Part 1 of my Inkbook review.

Inkubook has graciously, contributed 3 books to 3 winners($30 in value or $30 off the order if building a really big book) - not including shipping($8.99 Standard Ground).

Congratulations ... And, the winners are ...

Holiday Gift Guide: Fairy-Gram.com

White Fairy Gram $35.95

What is a Fairy Gram?

Fairy-Grams are delightful little costumes, specially gift wrapped and delivered to your door. Each Fairy-Gram has a fairy tutu, fairy wings, fairy ribbon wand, fairy halo, and matching butterfly clips. They come in eight wonderful colors and retails for only $35.95.

Fairy-Gram.com Colors:
  • Hot Pink Fairy Gram
  • Lavender Fairy Gram
  • Green Fairy Gram
  • Lemon Fairy Gram
  • Pink Fairy Gram
  • White Fairy Gram
  • Rainbow Fairy Gram
  • Turquoise Fairy Gram

My daughter, Summer, loves to imagine being a magical fairy like Tinker Bell. Dressing is up is much more fun with Fairy-Grams. The lovely fairy halo, hair clips and wand are an added bonus. There are free flowing flower petals in the tutu. I like how the fairy wings fit just right. I have had trouble with other costumes fairy wings. I often used a clothes pin to hold the wings in place. Fairy-Gram wings have elastic arm holes that are more attractive and more comfortable than the regular Velcro wings.

You can easily buy matching tights and a leotard to make this costume even more magical. I believe Fairy-Grams will make playtime more exciting for any little girl. Fairy-Grams would make a wonder gift for any time of the year.

Special: The readers at Loving Heart Designs can receive 10% OFF by using the following promo code: TWITFAIRY.
